FRANCES RAPSON

THE LATE MRS. RAPSON

After an illness of a week's duration, Frances, the widow of the late Robert Rapson, passed away at the residence of her son, 51 Carfax, Horsham.

Born at Sittingbourne, she commenced her business career at Rochester, and in 1854, her bridal year, her husband brought her to Newbury, and opened a milliner's shop in Northbrook street. Extending the premises, Mr. Rapson left Mr. Penford, and added drapery, remaining at 48 and 49, Northbrook Street till he died in 1885. Mrs. Rapson continued the establishment till 1890, when she went to reside at Horsham.

The funeral took place on Thursday, the first part being conducted in St. Nicholas Church by the Rector, Rev. L.R. Majendie. The body was laid in the same grave as her husband in the Newbury Cemetery. The mourners were Robert and Charles Rapson, sons, Fanny Mary Dean, daughter; Maria Taylor, Robert and Lily Rapson, grandchildren; Frances Green, niece; Sydney Dean, son-in-law.
