HENRY CUMBER
SUDDEN DEATH OF MR. CUMBER. - Yesterday morning the sudden death was reported of Mr. Henry Cumber, who for 40 years has carried on business as a baker in Cheap-street.
It appears the Mr. Cumber had been suffering for some weeks past from spasms, but the attacks, though severe whilst they lasted, did not wholly prevent him from attending to business. He had, however, been warned by his medical attendant (Mr. Hemstead) that his death might be sudden, though his friends scarcely expected that he would be removed so quickly.
Shortly before four yesterday morning he complained of great pain, and rose and partly dressed, but was observed suddenly to fall upon the bed.
A messenger was dispatched for Mr. Hemstead and members of the family residing near, but he died almost immediately.
Mr. Cumber always took great interest in local matters, and filled many parochial offices with general acceptance.
