Obituary NWN 4/10/1888

The LATE MRS. RANDALL — We record today the decease of Mrs Randall, widow of the late Mr. J. W. Randall of Northbrook-street. Mr. Randall was a tradesman of considerable energy, and took a deep interest in public matters. He was for many years member of the Newbury Corporation, and was Mayor of the Borough in 1862-3, the year the Prince of Wales was married, and actively promoted the loyal celebrations on that occasion. Mrs Randall will be buried tomorrow (Friday) afternoon, in the Newbury Cemetery, where her husband was laid to rest in1863, his death occurring shortly after he ceased to be Mayor.
Funeral NWN 11/10/1888

THE LATE MRS. J. W. RANDALL. — The funeral of Mrs J. W. Randall took place on Friday at the Cemetery, the body being taken previously to the Parish Church, where the first part of the burial service took place, the psalms being chanted, and the hymn sung, "Now the labourer's task is o'er", with the Num Dimittis as a recessional. The Revs. W. C. Parr and W. Pheasant took part in the service and the arrangements were conducted by Mr. Hanington. The bell of the Parish Church tolled during the afternoon.
