WILLIAM ATKINS
THE LATE MR. ATKINS
Mr. William Atkins, of Northcroft-buildings, an old and respected townsman, died somewhat suddenly on Thursday morning from a fit, of which he has lately had several.
Mr. Atkins was amongst the founders of the Newbury Conservative Working Men's Club, and acted as Treasurer to the club until a short time ago.
At the funeral on Tuesday, a large number of honorary and ordinary members of the club attended to show their respect for the deceased.
The first part of the Burial Service was chorally rendered at the Parish Church, the Revs. W.O. Parr and R. Williams officiating. Mr Hubert Knight presided at the organ, and played the "Dead March" as the coffin was carried from the church.
The interment took place at the cemetery. Mr. Hanington superintended the funeral arrangements.
