Fanny Hunt

Fanny Hunt

1781-1860

Fanny was born on the 1st February 1781 in Harnham, Wiltshire, she was baptised on the 1st July 1781 at the Parish Church of Britford, Wiltshire, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Harris.

Thomas and Sarah also had the following children baptised in Britford:

William 30th October 1772

Mary 9th December 1773

Louisa born 11th July, baptised 6th September 1778

Fanny married James Breese, a Gardener, on the 26th November 1810 at St George Hanover Square Westminster They had a daughter, Sarah Jemima Breese, born 21st September 1812, who was baptised 22nd October 1812 in Fisherton Anger, Wiltshire.

Fanny was widowed between 1812-1819 (No confirmed death record found for James Breese)

Fanny remarried on the 22nd December 1819 at St Anne Soho Westminster, her 2nd husband was Robert Hunt.

(Robert was baptised on the 11th March 1793 at St Lawrence, Stroud, Gloucestershire, the son of Daniel and Anne Hunt (nee Gubbin/Gubbins)) who were married on the 24th September 1778 in Stroud)

Robert and Fanny had a son Albert, born on the 22nd April 1820, he was baptised 21st May 1820 and a daughter Mary Ann, born on the 25th March 1821, she was baptised 13th April 1821. Both were baptised in Marylebone London and Robert was recorded as a Servant on the baptism records. 

In 1841 Albert married Elizabeth Jane Wilson, Robert was recorded as a Gentleman on the marriage certificate. In 1849 Mary Ann (abode; Christ Hospital) married John Osborn Wilson, Robert was recorded as a Cook. John and Elizabeth were possibly brother and sister (father recorded as William Wilson a Farmer on both marriage records). 

The 1851 census records Robert (58) and Fanny (69) at Christ Hospital, Newgate Street, London, both were recorded as Cooks. (The 1851 census records Fanny’s married daughter Sarah Jemima Wood living in Montague Place, Newbury).

Sometime between 1851 and 1861 Robert and Fanny moved to 4 Montague Place, Newbury.

Fanny died aged 79 in 1860, she was laid to rest in a consecrated private grave in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 8th November.

The 1861 census records Robert (68) as a Fund Holder, living at 4 Montague Place, Newbury.

Robert died aged 71 on the 9th February 1865, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 16th February with his late wife Fanny.
