Mary Elkins
She was born c. 1792 in Devizes, Wiltshire. The 1851 census records she is living in West Street, aged 60 years, with her husband Samuel Elkins, a Cordwainer, and their daughter Mary, aged 23 - a Governess, and son Alfred, aged 20 - a Lawyer’s Clerk. They had 3 other children – Caroline, born 1825 who died aged 4 months; Samuel, born 1828; and John, born 1831 who died aged only 6 days old.
She died aged 65 years on 22 May 1857 in London and she was buried in Newbury on 1 June 1857. Her son Alfred was living in London at the time and he married Mary Ann Allen on 23 December 1857 at St. Pancras Church, London.
