The articles below contain information about John Goodchild.
John Goodchild lived with his wife Emily in Saint Marys Hill.
He was an Assistant in the Soda works when their daughter Emily Louise was born. She subsequently married Thomas (Tom) Randall, and they were buried in the same cemetery.
John was also known as a beer retailer at 54 Cheap Street, later known as The King Charles, and it is my understanding that it was from there that Newbury Mineral Water Works was created.
According to the records at the Library he was at the King Charles in 1885.
However, he died at 1 Eton Villas, Berkeley Road, Newbury on March 18th 1907.
His widow Emily went to live with Thomas Randall and family and she lived with them until her death at 232 London Road, Newbury on October 7th 1932.
