THE LATE MISS AMELIA EDMONDS
The funeral of the late Miss Amelia Edmonds, who died at Southampton on Christmas Eve took place at Newbury Cemetery on Friday afternoon. The body was conveyed by rail to Newbury station, the coffin being of polished oak with brass fittings, and on it were laid some choice flowers.
The mourners were Mr. John Edmonds (Southampton), Mr. D. C. Edmonds (Winchester), Mr. C. Edmonds (Newbury), brothers: Mr. Wm. Edmonds (Newbury), nephew.
The service was taken by Rev. F.W. Clarke. Messrs Penford and Son, Newbury were the undertakers.
The deceased was a member of an old Newbury family. A few years ago she removed from the town where the greater part of her life had been spent.

Amelia Edmonds
She was born in 1826 in Newbury, the third daughter of Thomas Edmonds (1793-1862) and his second wife Ann, nee Higgs (1798-1875). In the 1841/1851 Census she is living with her parents and family at 39 Northbrook Street. In the 1861 Census she is visiting George Pryor, Fruit Salesman, at 2 Church Street, Southwark St. Saviour, Surrey. In the 1871/1881 Census, she is living with her brother John at 3 Market Place, Islington. After her brother’s marriage in 1890 to Arabella Annie Cox Pocock she moved to Southampton with them and lived there until her death at the Grosvenor House Nursing Home, Southampton, on 24 December 1906 aged 80 years. She was buried on 28 December 1906. Probate granted to her brother John Edmonds, retired Watchmaker.
