Sarah Jemima Wood c1812-1884
Sarah was, born 21st September 1812, she was baptised 22nd October 1812 in Fisherton Anger, Wiltshire, the daughter of James and Fanny Breese (nee Harris) who were married on the 26th November 1810 at St George Hanover Square Westminster.
Her father James was a Gardener (no other details found yet!). Sarah's mother Fanny was born on the 1st February 1781 in Harnham, Wiltshire, she was baptised on the 1st July 1781 at the Parish Church of Britford, Wiltshire, the daughter of Thomas and Sarah Harris.
Fanny remarried on the 22nd December 1819 at St Anne Soho Westminster. Her 2nd husband was Robert Hunt. Fanny and Robert had a son Albert, born on the 22nd April 1820, baptised 21st May 1820 and a daughter Mary Ann, born 25th March 1821, baptised 13th April 1821. Both were baptised in Marylebone London and Robert was recorded as a Servant on the baptism records.
Sarah married in 1846 Marriage details: Place: St George Hanover Square Middlesex. Date: 4th June 1846

Bride: Sarah Jemima Breese, full aged, spinster, abode, Curzon Street
Fathers: James Wood and James Breese, both Gardeners
Witnesses: Robert Hunt, Mary Ann Hunt and Jane Andrews Bride and Groom both signed
(James was born on the 30th September 1801 in Milverton Somerset he was baptised on the 9th March in Milverton along with his brothers John and William, the sons of James and Jane Wood (nee Janes or Jennings) who were married on the 5th January 1796 in Milverton. James was recorded working as a Butler in Newtown, Hampshire, (for an Edmund Arbuthnot, a Justice of the Peace), in the1851, 1861 and 1871 census records.)
James and Sarah had the following three sons, all born in Newbury:

James 1849
Alfred 1852
The 1851, 1861, 1871 and 1881 census records all record Sarah living in Montague Terrace/Place, Newbury.
In 1851 she was recorded as a Gentleman's Butler's Wife, living with her eldest two sons Robert (3) and James (1) and a House Servant.
In 1861 she was recorded as a Landed Proprietor's wife, living with her 3 sons and a Lodger.
In 1871 her son Alfred (18) a Coach Painter and a Servant were recorded living with her.
The 1881 census records Sarah living with one Servant.
Sarah was widowed in 1876 James died aged 75 on the 19th September, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 23rd September.
Sarah died aged 72 on the 21st July 1884, she was laid to rest with her husband James on the 24th July.
