Brian was born on the 7th January 1939, (birth registered in Wokingham Berkshire) the son of Frederick Henry and Daisy Isobel Emily Jones (nee New) who were married in 1927 (marriage registered in Newbury).

 His father Frederick Henry was born on the 19th June 1904 in Newbury, the son of Ernest Victor and Eleanor Sophia Jones (nee Hadley) who were married in 1888 (marriage registered in Reading Berkshire)

His mother Daisy Isobel Emily Preston was born on the 22nd February 1906 in Newbury, the illegitimate daughter of Florence Lavinia Preston. Daisy’s mother married William New the following year and Daisy was then known as Daisy New.

Brian had two siblings, a brother born in 1927 and a sister born on the 30th December 1930 (both births were registered in Newbury).

In 1930 Frederick and Daisy were recorded living at 3 Enborne Road, Newbury

In 1935 they were recorded living at 45 Bartholomew Street, Newbury

In 1955 they were recorded living at the Red Lion Chieveley, Berkshire

The 1939 register records the family living in Cold Ash. Frederick was recorded as a skilled Motor Mechanic/Manager of a Garage.

Brian died aged 23 months on the 15th December 1940 in the Children’s Hospital, Cold Ash, he was buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 18th December with his great grandparents Thomas Preston (buried in 1909) and Annie Lavinia Bellinger (buried in 1934).

Brian’s great grandparents Thomas and Annie Lavinia Preston (nee Wright) married in 1883 They were the parents of Florence Lavinia Preston, Brian’s grandmother (see above). Annie Lavinia Preston remarried in 1912 her 2nd husband was George Bellinger, her widowed brother-in-law. (Previously married to her sister Elizabeth)).

Brian’s mother Daisy died on the 8th August 1958 at 3 Link Way, Thatcham, Berkshire (Address at time of death, 31 Fifth Road, Newbury).

His father Frederick died on the 1st October 1977 in Hampshire. (Address at time of death, 3 Buffins Road, Odiham, Hampshire)
