Annie Lavinia Bellinger
1862-1934
Annie Livinia was born in Newbury the daughter of John and Livinia Wright (nee Challis) who were married in 1848 (marriage registered in Newbury).
Her father John was baptised 15th December 1822 at St Nicolas Church Newbury, the son of Richard and Elizabeth Wright (nee Triggs) who were married on the 25th May 1817 at St Nicolas Church Newbury.
Her mother Livinia was baptised in Newbury in 1827, the daughter of Frederick and Martha Challis (nee Walter) who were married on the 11th November 1821 in Speen, Berkshire.
John and Livinia also had the following children:
Twins: Jane and Richard John 1849 (Richard died aged 9 weeks, buried 6th June 1849 at St Nicolas Newbury)

Female c1855 (died without being given a name soon after birth)
Annie Maria 1856 (died aged 3, buried in the Newtown Road Cemetery Newbury on the 24th April 1860)
Elizabeth 1859
Frederick John 1864

Annie’s father John died aged 46 in 1869, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 2nd October.
In 1871 Annie Livinia (8) and her siblings Elizabeth (10), John (7) (Frederick John) and Joseph (4) were recorded as inmates in the Newbury Workhouse.
Her mother remarried in Newbury in 1874, her 2nd husband was Henry Waite.
In 1881 Annie (18) was working as a Housemaid. She was living in Mayor’s Lane, Newbury with her mother Livinia, a Laundress, her brother Joseph (14), a Bricklayer’s Labourer, and her niece Alice Wright (3) (born on the 14th February, baptised on the 8th March 1878 the illegitimate daughter of her daughter Elizabeth).
Annie married Thomas Preston in 1883. (Marriage registered in Newbury. Thomas was born c1862 in Newbury, he worked as a Labourer/Bricklayer’s Labourer)
Thomas and Annie had the following children:

In 1891 the family were living at 6 St Mary’s Court, Newbury. By 1901 they had moved to 4 Denmark Road, Newbury.
Thomas died aged 43 in 1909 in Newbury, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 6th April. At the time of his death the family were living at 1 Arthur Road, Newbury.
The 1911 census records Annie still living at 1 Arthur Road, also in the household were her sons Ernest (19) and Alfred (16), her married daughter Flora New (27) (recorded as Florence) and her grandchildren Daisy New (5) and William New (2).
Annie remarried in 1912, her 2nd husband was George Bellinger (marriage registered in Uxbridge Middlesex. George was Annie’s brother-in-law, he married Annie’s older sister Elizabeth in 1879, Elizabeth died in 1909).
George and Annie lived at 1 Arthur Road until their deaths.
George died aged 72 in 1932, he was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 12th August.
Annie Lavinia died aged 72 in February 1934 (either the 11th or 12th. Probate record records her date of death as 12th February 1934, Newbury Weekly News records it as 11th February 1934) she was laid to rest in the Newtown Road Cemetery on the 15th February with her 1st husband Thomas Preston. Also buried in the same grave is Thomas and Annie’s great grandson Brian Robin Jones.
