DEATH OF MR. NELSON MOREN

The death took place on Tuesday last week of Mr. Nelson Moren, of Winchcombe-road, Newbury. He came of an old-established Kentish family, and was the eldest son of Mr.J. Moren, of the Dairy House Farm, Marden. He married Miss L. Couzens, of Norfolk, and lived in Tonbridge, where he carried on business as a dealer in antiques.

He came to Newbury in 1912 and was a founder member of the Newbury Volunteer Fire Brigade for 15 years; he was also a special constable during the last war. He was very well known locally, attending sales as a porter and as a buyer, and was for some time attendant at the weekly poultry sales held by Messrs. Day, Shergold and Herbert.

He sustained a fall from the motor engine when on the way to a call which considerably shook him. Latterly he had been in very indifferent health and was a patient at a hospital. His age was 70.

The funeral took place at the Newtown-road Cemetery on Thursday afternoon, the clergyman being the Rev. E.H. Stenning.

The mourners were Mrs. Moren (widow), Mrs. Commerford (sister), Mr. Couzens (brother-in-law), Mrs. F. Moren (sister-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. Lampard (nephew and niece), and Mr. Rayner Lampard (great nephew).

Those also present Included Mrs. Fifield, Mrs. Childs, Mrs. Myers, Mrs. Fisher and Mr. Ashley Turner (representing the Newbury Volunteer Fire Brigade).
