Recorder's Notes | Edward Samuel was born to Journeyman Bricklayer Frederick James and Jane, nee Hayward, later Gibbons, of Cheap St, Newbury. He married Ann Maria Edwards daughter of an Agricultural Labourer of Sanham Green, Hungerford in 1879. Before marriage she was a Farm Worker, living in Lower Green, Inkpen with her widowed mother and siblings. Edward & Ann had 9 children. In 1881 they lived at 7, Brixton Rise,Cheap St, Newbury and he was working as a Pig Butcher. By 1901, they were at 2 Industrial Cottages, Jubilee Rd and he was working as a Bricklayer. By 1911 he was a Builder. They moved to 39, Greenham Rd by 1827 but he died at Quarrystone, Burghclere n 1933. He left £1263 to son Albert James, Platelayer.
