THOMAS SMITH
AN ODDFELLOW'S FUNERAL.
--On Friday, the remains of Mr. Thomas Smith, whose sudden death was recorded in last week's NEWS, were interred in the Cemetery, and as a mark of respect to the memory of the deceased who had been a member of the order for many years, a procession of about 78 Oddfellows formed part of the cortege.
The service was read by the Rev. W. Milton. The deceased was an active member, and, we believe, had filled the whole of the offices in the Briton's Pride, the lodge with which he was connected.

THOMAS SMITH SUDDEN DEATH On Sunday, a case of sudden death occurred in West-street. Thomas Smith, a plumber in the employ of Messrs. Ravenor, had returned from church to his lodgings in Windsor-place, and as he was about to begin dinner he complained of dizziness, exclaimed with a presentiment which proved to be too true, "Oh dear, I'm dying," fell back in his chair, and became speechless and unconscious. Medical assistance was promptly in attendance, the case was pronounced to be one of apoplexy, and in about three hours the sufferer died without having once rallied. The deceased was about 43 years of age, was a widower with one child, and lodged at Mrs. Callis's. Newbury Weekly News 14 February 1867 Account book no. 1 page 89 Not in Mrs. P
