ALFRED CHARLES MORTIMER

SUDDEN DEATH OF AN INFANTOn Monday morning, the 28th ult., an inquest was held at the Council Chamber, before J. Bunny, Esq., M.D., borough coroner, to inquire into the death of Alfred Charles Mortimer, aged five months, the infant son of parents residing in Bartholomew-street. From the evidence of Mr. and Mrs. Mortimer and Mrs. Church, a neighbour who was called in, it appeared that the deceased died suddenly on the previous Saturday as it was being nursed by its mother. The child was never very strong, but had not been attended by a medical man since the time of its birth. The evidence being given very straightforwardly, the jury, without further deliberation, returned a verdict – “Died by the visitation of God.”.
