THE LATE MISS KATE MORTIMER

LARGE GATHERING AT THE FUNERAL

 

The funeral of Miss Kate Mortimer, whose death occurred at her home “Montoro”, Craven-road, on Tuesday in last week, took place at theMethodistChurch, Bartholomew-street, on Friday afternoon. The service which was conducted by the Minister, the Rev. W. Lawson Jones, B.A., was short and simple in character. Mr. Charles Griffin was at the organ and played “O rest in the Lord” as the coffin was carried into the church and “Blest are the departed” after the service. The interment was in the grave of her mother and father in theOldCemetery, Newtown-road.

 

The family mourners were Miss Louie Mortimer, Miss Edie Mortimer and Mrs. Blea (sisters), Mr. Blea (brother-in-law), Mr. Cecil Viney, Abingdon (nephew), Mrs. Wakeham, Abingdon (niece), Mr. Godfrey Lay, Thatcham,Mrs. R.W.Church, Purley (cousins) and Mr. Arthur Attewell.

 

There were many friends at the church and graveside, including Mrs. W. Blea (Peasemore), Miss Boyce, Miss Emmeline Stillman, Councillor J.H. Thompson, Mr. W. Thompson (Stroud), Mrs. S.E. West, Mrs Brice Gould, Mrs. Colby, Miss A. Franklin, Mrs. William Davies, Mrs Sam Smith, Miss Willoughby, Miss Edith Midwinter, Mrs. Smith, Miss Langford, Miss Keep, Mrs Butler and Mrs. Smith.
