MABEL EVELYN LAWRENCE

DEATH OF MRS. GEORGE LAWRENCE FUNERAL AT OLD CEMETERY

It is with regret we record the death of Mrs. Mabel Evelyn Lawrence, of 8, Chesterfield Road, which occurred at the Royal Berkshire Hospital, Reading, on January 19th. Mrs. Lawrence was only 35 years of age. A daughter was born to her on January 16th, and mother and child were doing well. Pneumonia, however, followed and was the cause of death. Mrs. Lawrence was the third daughter of the late Mr. S.J. Jacobs and of Mrs. Jacobs of Newbury.
The funeral was held on Tuesday, the first part of the service being in St. John's Church. The Rev. E.H. Stenning, Vicar, officiated, and Mrs. Lawrence was interred in the Old Cemetery, Newtown-road.
The mourners were Mr. George Lawrence (husband), Mrs. Jacobs (mother), Mr. Ernest Jacobs (brother), Miss Elsie Jacobs (sister), Mr. and Mrs. A.J. Knight (brother-in-law and sister), Mrs. Sidney Jacobs (sister-in-law), Mr. G. Lawrence, seer. (father-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. T. Lawrence (brother and sister-in-law), Mrs. W. Lawrence (sister-in-law), Miss Ada Palmer and Mrs. F. Perry. Mr. Sidney Jacobs and Mr. Percy Jacobs. Mrs Lawrence's two brothers were unable to attend because of illness. There were a large number of friends in church and at the graveside.
