Born in Sherborne St, Middlesex, to a Trader. Youngest of 12 children. Married Martha Covington, d. of coal merchant & lighterman in 1849 at St Anne's Limehouse. Moved to High St,Tenterden, Kent where he was an Ironmonger, where they had 7 children. After George's death, Martha moved to Southwark then Camberwell, where, by 1891 she was living with her daughter on her own means. Source: ancestry.co.uk records. Quotation possibly from Psalm 34
