THE LATE MR. W. FABRY
The news reached Newbury on Saturday, December 16th, of the somewhat sudden death of Mr, Walter Fabry, of Caversham-road, Reading. The deceased contracted a cold, which developed into pneumonia.
Mr. Fabry for many years conducted a fruiterers business in the Market Place, Newbury, from which he retired some time since, and went to reside in Porchester-road, until his removal to Reading a few months ago.
He was well known to the sporting fraternity in both towns.
The funeral took place in the Newtown-road Cemetery on Friday, December 22nd, the first part of the service being taken in St John’s Church, the Rev. A.G.P. Baines being the officiating clergyman.
The mourners were Mrs. W. Fabry, Sen. (widow), Pte James Fabry, Mr. W. Fabry, Pte Harry Fabry, and Mr. W. P. Fabry (sons), Mrs. Hedges, Mrs. C.L. Nicholson and Mrs Barker (daughters), Mrs. C. Tucker (sister-in-law), Mrs. W. Fabry, Jun. (daughter-in-law), Queenie and Wallie (grandchildren), and Mr. l. Shergold.etc.
The remains were conveyed from Reading to Newbury on the morning of the funeral. The coffin was of polished oak, with brass furniture, and the nameplate was inscribed:
