Dorcas, nee Norridge, William and Ann were all born in Oxford. William worked for the Railway and came to Hermitage, then Lambourn and finally Clifton Rd, Newbury where he was a Railway Officer. Dorcas was a servant at St John's College, Oxford before her marriage in 1879.They had 3 children. William was Station Master of Newbury at the time of the Lambourn rail crash (April 1898) in which 2 boys, both buried in NRC, were killed. He accompanied the boys in the train to Newbury Hospital with Mr Gipps, son-in-law of Walter Money. William had left the railway by the 1911 census (when he was working away from home in Bournemouth in his Coal Merchant's business, Wm Brain Ltd, with his sons and son-in-law), & died in 1929, having remarried Kate Stansfield in 1914 who died in 1928. Both are buried in LS(C)1. Ann appears to have never worked except in domestic duties at home. Sources: Ancestry records. Also see fnrc website under Wm Brain. Account of rail crash in NWN Apr 1898
