BRICE ALFRED BURTON SUDDEN DEATH
Much sympathy has been expressed with Mr. F. Burton, the market toll collector, and Mrs. Burton, in the sudden death of their son, Mr. Brice Burton, which occurred at the District Hospital on Sunday. The deceased, who was 44 years of age, had served for seven years in the 15th Hussars, and subsequently as a reservist, passed through the South African campaign. On leaving the service, he obtained employment in the town, but for the last few months had been in indifferent health and unable to work. On Saturday evening he became unwell, when near the Parish Church, and fell down. He was carried into the "Two Brewers" inn where he was seen by Doctors Watson and Wyllie on whose advice he was removed to the Hospital. He did not regain consciousness and passed away on Sunday evening, haemorrhage being the cause of death.
The funeral took place on Wednesday, the Rector (Rev. L.R. Majendie) officiating, and the mourners being the father and deceased's brothers. Reading Mercury 16 Sept 1911
