RICHARD WATSON POLLARD

THE LATE MR. R. W. POLLARD

The death took place on Saturday last of Mr. Richard Watson Pollard at the ripe old age of 82. He came to the neighbourhood in 1889, residing at Bagnor Manor, and in 1897 moved to College House, where his daughters have since carried on an educational establishment.

The deceased was a native of South Devon, where he was a prominent farmer, and a large prize winner at agricultural shows. He took a keen interest in local affairs and was for many years a member of the Totnes Board of Guardians.

For a considerable time he has been an invalid, and his death on Sunday last was not unexpected.

The funeral took place on Wednesday, the officiating clergyman being the Rev. L.R. Majendie. The first part of the ceremony took place at the Parish Church, the interment being at the Cemetery, where there was a large gathering of friends.

The immediate mourners were Mrs. Pollard (widow), Miss B. Pollard, Mr. C. Pollard, Captain E. Haswell, Miss N. Pollard, Mr. F. Pollard, Mr. J. Rendell and Miss Brown. The coffin was of polished elm with brass furniture, and was inscribed-
