The Late Mr. James Hiscock.
- The funeral of the late Mr James Hiscock, who died at his residence in Salisbury-terrace after a protracted illness, took place on Friday afternoon last. The body was conveyed on a Washington car and was followed by two mourning coaches.
The first part of the service was at St John's church where the deceased gentleman had been a sidesman for some considerable time until about four years ago when he retired in consequence of declining health. The interment afterwards took place in the Cemetery where his wife and sister* had both been laid to rest within a year, the latter only a fortnight before. The service was impressibly read by the Rev. R. Wickham Legg.
The mourners were Mr, Iremonger (brother-in-law), Mrs Francois (sister-in-law), Mr Whitworth and Mr Freemantle (executors), Miss Francoise (niece), the Misses Hearne, Mrs Carlisle.
Others present were Messrs. J.N. Day, W. Edwards, W. Edmonds (representing the Bowling Green), J. Parker, Rev. J Sellicks, Arthur Attewell, Broome Pinniger, Mrs Mallett, Misses Wilson, Misses Harrold, Miss Heath, Mrs. Jackson, Mr. C. Jackson, Mr. F.G. Butler of Rowde, Cooper, etc.
The breastplate was inscribed:
James Hiscock,
Died July 26, 1910.
Aged 70.
There were no flowers by special request. The funeral arrangements were carried out under the personal direction of Mr. Walter Penfold.
