MARY JANE WAITE

THE LATE MISS WAITE

The funeral of the late Miss Mary Waite took place on Friday last at the Newtown-road Cemetery. The Rev. J. Waite Davies conducted the service, assisted by the Rev. W. Charles Johnson.

Many friends, members of the Newbury Baptist Church, of which Miss Waite was formerly a member, attended, and a wreath from the Minister and Deacons was sent. Wreaths were also received from the South Lee Tabernacle, the South Lee Women’s Own, and from relatives and friends from Lee and Newbury.

Miss Waite’s death took place 73 Leyland-road, Lee, London, S.E. from pneumonia following influenza. It occurred on March 3rd, and on the same day and in the same house Mrs. Anna Mary Louisa Fysh, widow of the late Mr. Edward T. Fysh, passed away, of whom Miss Waite had been a devoted companion. Both deaths were sudden. Mrs. Fysh had suffered from some time from heart weakness. Miss Waite was an active helper in Christian work and a member of South Lee Baptist Tabernacle, of which her cousin, the Rev. J. Waite Davies, well-known in Newbury, is pastor.
