JOHN FERGUSSON

THE LATE MR. FERGUSSON

The death took place on Friday morning of Mr. John Fergusson, of Craven-

street, at the age of seventy, after an illness of several weeks. Mr. Fergusson, who was

a Scotsman, being a native of Strachar, Argyllshire, came to Newbury half a century,

ago, and as a draper and tailor, had travelled the district within twenty miles of

Newbury, being well known in most of the villages roundabout. He was of genial

disposition, and his death will be regretted by a large circle of country customers.

The funeral took place on Tuesday afternoon, at the Cemetery, the Rev. F.W.

Clarke, Congregational minister, officiating. The mourners were Mr. Archie

Fergusson (son), Mrs. Duncan (sister), Mrs. Few, Mr. Frome (Reading).

Amongst

friends

at the graveside were Mr. Robert Bell, Mrs. J. Bell, Mr. S. Parr,

Mr. Poulton, etc.
