Bluecoat Schoolboy's Funeral
The funeral of Geoffrey Garland Curwood, a scholar at C Christ’s Hospital school, whose death was reported in our last issue, took place at the Parish Church on Saturday, the Rector, the Rev. L.R. Majendie, who is chaplain to the Old Blues' Association officiating.
The body, which was brought from Horsham on Thursday was buried at the Newtown-road Cemetery. Amongst those present at the service were Alderman J. Stradling (almoner for the Borough for Christ's Hospital, Mr. G. F. Pyke, (Secretary, Old Blues' Association), Mr. J. S. Herbert, Mr. P. Sellwood, Mr. F.S. Hickman,Mr. And Mrs. J.T. Lawrence, etc.
The organist, Mr. B. Ramsey, Mus. Bac., played “I know that my Redeemer lived,” and “O Rest in the Lord.” The service was choral, the hymns sung being “The King of Love my Shepherd is,” and “On the resurrection morning,” and the Psalm, “The Lord is my Shepherd.”
The mourners were: Mr. and Mrs. B.D. Curwood (father and mother), Nancy and Ben (sister and brother), Mr. Ernest Curwood (uncle), Miss Marion Curwood (aunt), Mr. and Mrs. George Curwood (uncle and aunt),, Miss Eleanor Salisbury (cousin), Mr. and Mrs. W.J. Taylor, L. Vine (chum).
