EVELYN MATTHEWS

THE LATE MRS. MATTHEWS

Much sympathy has been expressed with Mr. H. Matthews, of the “Rose and Thistle” Inn, in the loss he has sustained by the death of his wife, on Thursday, after a long and patiently borne illness.

The funeral took place on Monday at Newbury Cemetery, the service being conducted by Rev. A.H. D. Newbold.

The mourners were Mr. H. Matthews (husband), Mrs. F.W. Attewell (sister), Mr. F.W. Attewell (brother-in-law), Miss Lily Green (niece), Mrs Willshire (sister-in-law) and Mrs. Loveridge. A number of friends gathered at the graveside in expression of their sympathy.

The coffin was covered with beautiful floral offerings, including those from – The Husband, Mr. and Mrs.F.W. Attewell and family, Miss Gertie Thatcher (niece), Percy, Bob and Lily Green (nephews and nieces), Mr. and Mrs. Poffley, Mr. and Mrs. Loveridge, Mr. and Mrs. Whyman, Mr. and Mrs. Bastin, Mr. and Mrs. Hart, Mrs, King and Mrs. Floyd, Licensed Victuallers’ Association, “The Boys” (friends of the deceased).
