ROBINA ROBERTS PILE
The funeral of the late Mrs. Pile, wife of Mr. T.P. Pile, of Salisbury-terrace, took place on Monday afternoon.
The first part of the service was conducted at the Parish Church by the Rector (Rev. Lionel Majendie).
The mourners were Mr. Pile (husband), Miss Pile (daughter), and the six sons Messrs. Philip, Woolmer, Alec, Harry, Mont. and Cuthbert Pile. The sons acted as bearers, carrying their mother’s body reverently from the house to the car, then into church, and finally to the grave, into which they lowered it with loving care. It was an (sic) unique sight to see these six stalwart sons thus paying the last tribute of affection to their mother, whose death they greatly deplored. The polished elm coffin was inscribed

There were present in church several friends and neighbours, and a number of floral offerings were sent by relatives and friends, including those from the family, the grandchildren Kep and little Phil, Ern and Steve, Minnie and Edith. Mrs. Flower, Madge, Rose and Joan Folkard, Mr. and Mrs. Fuller Smith, Mrs Beames, Mrs. Spicer and Mrs Collins, Tommy and Nella Spicer.
