THE LATE MR NATHANIEL BURGESS – The death occurred on Monday, October 15th, of Mr Nathaniel Burgess, at his residence, Eddystone, 34 Priory road.  Mr Burgess, who was born at Tullow, in Ireland, was an experienced and well-known Excise Officer, with a 40 years’ record in the Inland Revenue Department, having been stationed during that time in Ireland, Scotland and many places in England.  He came to Newbury about five-and-a-half years ago, and had been superannuated a little over 18 months.  Latterly he has been in failing health, and passed away after a short illness.  Deceased was laid to rest in Newbury Cemetery on Friday last.  The funeral was conducted by the Rev. G Dangerfield.  The mourners were the three children (Maud, Geraldine and Gordon), nephews and Mr Sinnott and Mr McLennan (Inland Revenue Officers), Miss Morris and Rev.
