GEORGE SIDNEY PAINE
The death occurred on Good Friday at his residence in Howard -road of Mr George Sidney Paine, who about 19 years ago established the outfitter's business at 21 Northbrook-street.
He was a native of Eltham, Kent, and prior to coming to Newbury was in the drapery business at Woolwich, and Hoylake, Cheshire. Aged 66 he had been suffering from heart trouble, and for the past two years was an invalid. He leaves a wife and seven children. The funeral took place yesterday (Wednesday) at the Newtown-road cemetery.
The mourners were Messrs John, Wilfred, Eric, Leonard and Maurice Paine (sons), Miss H. Paine (Forest Gate) sister; Mr C.R. Paine (brother); Mr T.F. Tomes (brother-in-law); Mr E.H. Weekes (Tunbridge Wells).
Wreathes were sent by his sorrowing wife, daughter and sons at “Merlindale”, Stanley and Florence, Eric and May, Charles and Nellie, Sister Edith (Rugby), Sister Hilda (Forest Gate), Sister Maude (Boscombe); Mabel and Charlie (Hoylake), Fanny, Bet and Gwen (Gloucester); Kit, Ronald and Tommy (Sidcup); Bob (Southborough); Sallie (Newbury);Mr and Mrs Turnbull (Wembley); Cousin Alice (Newton Abbot); Nora, Bert and Grace (Gloucester); Mr and Mrs R.
