Lucy married John Turk on the 9th December 1856. By the 1861 census they were living at St Marys Hill, Newbury and were listed as Iron Founder Master and Iron Founder’s wife. They had a son John Burton listed as being aged 4.
By 1881 they still lived in Cheap Street where they ran their Iron Foundry making agricultural implements which were used throughout England. Turk’s ploughs were highly esteemed by agriculturalists.

Povey & Wade, this was painted over the former Turk & Son ghost sign, which you can just see behind.
