Herbert was a Brewer & Maltster from Ipswish, Her first married Elizabeth Mary Cullingham, daughter of a Brewer & Maltster empl 129 hands in Ipswich. They had 3 children When Elizabeth died, he married her sister in London when it was against the law, but a common practice, to marry your late wife's sister. He moved to Newbury where he was Brewer & Maltster at the Phoenix Brewery, Bartholomew St, assisted by his son, Dudley Charles. After Margaret died, he married Edith Joan in 1907. MARGARET MARIA FINN
THE LATE MRS FINN
We regret to record the death of Mrs. Finn, wife of Mr. H.J. Finn, of Phoenix House, Bartholomew-street, who died on Thursday morning last. The funeral took place on Monday afternoon at Newbury Cemetery, the burial service being conducted by the Rector, the Rev. E.L. Gardiner. The coffin was conveyed to the cemetery in an open glass car.
The coffin was of polished oak with brass fittings and inscribed:

Died March 28th 1901
Aged 43
The mourners, who were present were Mr. H.J. Finn, Mr. Dudley C. Finn (son), Mr. J.B. Cullingham (brother), Mr. W.J. Finn (Cobham), Mr. A. Finn (Lydd), Mr. C.J. Barry (London) and Dr. Hickman.
Wreaths and floral offerings were sent from Mr. Finn and family, Mr. Brandfort Edwards (Ipswich), Misses K. and L. Cullingham (sisters) and Fraulein E. Maxein, (Boscombe), Mrs. Dykes Barry (aunt) London; Miss Lucy Cullingham (sister); Mrs. Van der Burgh (aunt), Ipswich; Mr. and Mrs. Fred Finn, Canterbury; Mr. C.J. Barry, London; Rev. J. and Mrs. Atkins, Grammar School; Harris and North, servants at Phoenix House.
The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Penford and Sons, undertakers, Newbury.
