Death and Funeral

The death occurred of Edith Alice Humphries, fourth daughter of Herbert and Norah Humphries, of 3, Park street, Newbury, on February 10^th.  She had been ill for four and a half years, having been at the Peppard and Abingdon Sanatoriums for nearly four years.

The funeral took place on February 15^th, at the Newtown road Cemetery. The Rev C B Clayton officiated at the graveside, and the Rev. L R Majendie took the first part of the service at the Parish Church.  The mourners were: Father and mother, Bert and Harry (brothers), Linda, Mabel, Nelly and Norah (sisters), Mr R Maskell (brother-in-law) Mrs H Humphries (sister-in-law), Mr A T Curry (uncle); and Mrs Gibbs cousin).  Wreaths were sent by Mum and Dad; Harry, Lill and the boys; Lin, Dick and Roy; Mabel, Nelly Nora and little Gladys; Bert, Bessie and Johnnie; Auntie Allie and Uncle Arch; Grandma and Uncle Alf; Harry, Harold; an old school mate; Maud Blake; Gwen; Mr and Mrs Adams and Reg; Mrs Brown and family and Mr and Mrs Sturgess; from all at 16 Park street; Mr and Mrs Marshall and family; Mr and Mrs Stillman. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Mr E B Hitchman.
