THE LATE MR. F. WILLSON
The death of Mr.F. Willson took place suddenly at 4 York-road, Newbury, on Wednesday, Dec. 15. Having been ailing for quite a year and suffering from heart trouble and complications, he bore his affliction with much composure. The funeral took place on Saturday at the Newtown-road Cemetery, after a short service at St. John’s Church, the Rev. F. D. Briscoe officiating. The mourners included Mrs. F. Willson (widow), Mr. T. Mildenhall (brother-in-law), Mr. and Mrs. B. Mildenhall (brother and sister-in-law), Stanley (nephew), Mr. Marchant (neighbour), Mr. Woodsford. His employer, Mr. A. Dan Carter, was present at the church and at the graveside, also Mr. Arthur Smith, to whom the deceased was apprenticed, and continued as a valued workman for 20 years. Being a member of the Royal Ancient order of Buffaloes, representatives of “Jack of Newbury” (his mother lodge) and from the district attended.

The latter (R.A.O.B.), after the committal sentences, gathered round the grave and carried out the rites of the Order, which included their hymn, “Eternal father, strong to save,” and the dropping of an ivy leaf into the grave as an emblem of brotherly love.
