WILLIAM HANSON

The Late Mr. WILLIAM HANSON.-

Our obituary column to-day contains a notice of the death of Mr. William Hanson. Some 80 years ago his father came from London, and took to the stonemason's business at Speenhamland, on the death of its former proprietor Mr. Morrell.

Mr. Hanson left Newbury when a young man to try his fortune in London, but returned to the home of his boyhood a few years since to end his days.

About ten years ago he purchased for £1,000 a government annuity whereby he received £l41a year for life; a little calculation will show that he had the best of the investment then made.

The deceased was brother to Mr. Job Hanson, the late borough surveyor, who on the death of his father conducted the stonemason's business associated for so long a period with his name.
