Sarah Jane BALDING

 

Sarah Elizabeth Balding was chr. In Froxfield 6 March 1814.  He parents were Richard Balding and Rebecca Trueman.

She had 3 siblings

George Balding 1816 – 1893

Jane Ann Balding 1817 – 1889

Richard Balding 1820 -1879.  Richard m. Jane Potts and they had 7 children incl. Sarah Jane Balding who was born in Liverpool 7 March 1843.

Sarah Elizabeth never married and was school mistress in Hungerford, 129 High Street.  She moved to Charnham St. (1871) when she retired.  She died at Hungerford 21 May 1878 but is recorded in the probate records as latterly living in Newbury.  Probate under £4000,  A significant sum.

Sarah Jane was a pupil, aged 8, in 1851.  She continued living with her aunt possibly helping/teaching at the school for some time before she moved to Westfields in Newbury (1881), 3 Salisbury Ter. (1891), Clovelly (1901) and 59 Craven Rd. (1911).  For most of the time she lived on her own means when living in Newbury.  When she died in 1922, 28 Sept she had a probate of £2766 0 6, a not insignificant sum.

They are buried in the same grave in NRC
