REBE RANDALL
THE FUNERAL OF THE LATE MISS RANDALL
The funeral of the late Miss Rebe Randall, whose decease we referred to last week, took place on Saturday. A large number of the shops and private residences in the town had their shutters up, or blinds drawn, and the Cemetery was thronged with people to testify their sympathy and their sorrow. The funeral cortege left the Rectory at ten o’clock, the remains being borne on a bier mounted on wheels, which was propelled by the bearers. This was followed by the Rev. J. L. Randall and Mrs. Randall and family, Mrs. Bruxner and family, Rev. and Mrs. Morgan, C. S. Slocock, Esq. and Mrs. Slocock, Mrs. Hamilton, Mrs. And Miss Bazett, Mrs. Donaldson, Miss Devon, Mrs. Banting, Mr. Bunny, and other friends. On arriving at the Cemetery the choir of Newbury Church headed the procession, singing three hymns during the service, which was impressively read by the Rev. R. Randall, of Clifton. The coffin was of handsome polished oak, with brass plate and massive Gothic handles. We understand that it is the intention of the Rector of Newbury to present the bier used on this occasion for the purpose of internments at the Cemetery. The funeral arrangements were carried out by Messrs. Bodman and Jones.
