SAMUEL BIDDIS
Our obituary of to-day contains the names of two old and respected tradesmen of the town. These are Mr. James Blacket and Mr. Samuel Biddis.
The almost sudden death of Mr. Samuel Biddis, has caused great regret to his numerous friends. The deceased was apparently in his usual good health on Sunday morning last, and took a walk with his friend, Mr. Thomas Deller. When on the canal bank, between the Marsh and Northbrook Street Mr. Biddis suddenly fell. Medical aid was procured and he was taken to his home in Northbrook Street. A slight degree of consciousness returned, but death took place on Tuesday morning. His age was fifty-five. The deceased was a native of the town or rather of Speenhamland, and he spent the best part of his life in Newbury. In politics Mr. Biddis was a thorough Conservative, and one, who with regard to Imperial or local matters, took no pains to conceal his opinions. His funeral takes place to-day.
