GEORGE EDWARD JOHNS

A DISTRESSING INSTANCE of the uncertainty of life occurred on Saturday last, creating a painful sensation in the town. Mr. G.E. Johns, a gentleman residing on the Wash road, who had for some time been under medical treatment but without exciting serious apprehensions, expired about mid-day, almost suddenly, having been previously making preparations for leaving home.

As he had been so recently under a physician's care, no inquest was deemed necessary, but the comparatively good health which he enjoyed up to the eve of the sad event, caused the occurrence to come as a severe shock to his family and friends, by whom Mr. Johns was warmly beloved and much respected.
