THE LATE MR. SAMUEL FLINT
The Mayor said that this was the first public meeting since the death of Mr. Samuel Flint, who for many years a member of their body. He would suggest that they should pay a respect to the memory of their deceased colleague by entering upon the minutes a deep sense of their regret and loss of his services; and that in addition a letter of condolence should be sent to his widow expressing their sympathy with her and her family in their severe bereavement.
Ald. Hickman seconded the proposition. The removal of Mr. Samuel Flint was not merely a loss to his family but to the town. He had known Mr. Flint for 40 years, had seen him grow up from youth to manhood, and occupy as Mayor the highest position it was in the hands of his townsmen to give It was saddening to think that within nine months two active members of the Corporation had been removed by death.
The resolution was put and carried.
