ODDFELLOWS' FUNERAL Yesterday, the funeral took place of a young man named Osgood, who resided at Shaw, and about a fortnight ago had the misfortune to injure his fingers whilst at work at the Kilns. For two days he took no notice of the injury, but within a week of going to the doctor was a corpse.
About 50 Oddfellows followed him to the grave. The funeral charge was read at the Lodge Room by N.G. Stone, and through the kindness of the officiating minister, the Rev. Humphrey Morrison (Wesleyan), the grave charge was also read at the close of the service. It has been sated that this is the first time the grave charge has been read at Newbury Cemetery. |
