DEATH OF MR. TOM DEW
A WELL-KNOWN LANDLORD The death has occurred during the week of Mr. Tom Dew, who for 27 years had been landlord of the "Bricklayer's Arms" Bartholomew-street. He was a native of Aldbourne, Wilts., and during his residence in Newbury was well known as a licensee who enjoyed the friendship of many townsmen.
The funeral took place yesterday (Wednesday), a service being held at the Parish Church and the interment being in the Newtown road Cemetery. The Rector (Rev. L.R. Majendie) officiated. The mourners were Mrs. Dew (widow), Messrs William and John Dew, Aldbourne (brothers), Miss Alice Dew, Aldbourne (niece), Mr. and Mrs. J. Pike, Little Coxwell (brother-in-law and sister), Mr. and Mrs. S. Stillman (nephew and niece) Miss Lucy Lewis (niece), Mr. Littlejohn, London (cousin),Mr. And Mrs. Whyman (cousins),Mrs. Jackson (London), Mr. Godwin (London), Mr. Bowler (Esher), Mrs. Illsley (Hungerford, Mr. Batchelor (London) and a large number of personal friends.
