WILLIAM HENRY EAST
DEATH OF MR. W. H. EAST
Greatly to the regret of many friends the death took place on Tuesday of Mr. W.H. East manager to Mr. N. Liddiard, of The Bridge.
He came from Hagbourne and had been in Newbury for forty years, and in the same business thirty-five, with Mr. Liddiard. “Fred” as he was familiarly known to a large circle of customers, was unfailingly courteous and willing to oblige, and during the trying times of the war, when there were many difficulties to contend with, he succeeded in satisfying demands and smoothing over criticism.
Mr East lost his wife about a year ago, and had never completely recovered from the bereavement. He had been ill for some time.
The funeral will take place at the Parish Church on Friday, at 2pm.
