THE LATE MRS. FAIRTHORNE
The death occurred at the Stores, Kingsbridge-road on Monday May 7, of Mrs. Fairthorne. The deceased was the fourth daughter of the late Mr. Thomas Rich of Shrivenham. After her marriage she lived for many years in Caversham, coming to Newbury about five years ago. She leaves an invalid husband , seven sons (three of whom are on active service, and the others in the Colonies) and two daughters.
The funeral took place on Thursday at the Newbury Cemetery, the first part of the service being taken in St John's Church.
The mourners were Miss Fairthorne and Mrs. Neal (daughters), Miss Rich and Mrs. W.R. Allee (sisters), Mr. W. Rich (brother), Mr. W. Allee (brother-in-law), Mr. Neal (son-in-law), Mrs. Barrett (niece), and Mr. J. Allee (nephew). Also in the church and at the graveside were Mrs. Summers, Mrs. Tanner, Miss Gerrad, Mrs. Noakes and Mrs. Charlton.
Floral tokens were sent by her loving husband and children, Mr. W. Belcher, Lizzie, Annie and Fannie, Mrs. Max Tanner, Gracie and Dick, Sarah and her daughter Alice, and Marian, Bill, Mary, and George, her grandchildren. And the neighbours in Kingsbridge-road.
The coffin was inscribed
Lucy Fairthorne, died April 30 1917, aged 66 years.
The funeral was carried out by Messrs Hart and Sons.
