    Thomas Deacon was born in Shalbourne and married Annie (Sarah Ann) Keeling in 1879 in Newbury. Their parents were both labourers. Thomas was working as a plough boy aged 10 and later worked as a Carman & General Labourer. Annie began as a Cook to a Maltster in Eastfields, Newbury before marriage. They lived in King's Rd Newbury and had 8 children. Source: Ancestry records.
