ILLNESS OF DEPUTY-MAYOR
COLLAPSED AT MEETING LAST NIGHT
The many friends of Mr. Councillor J.R. Witts (the Deputy Mayor) will be sorry to hear that he was taken suddenly ill last (Wednesday) night.

He attended at Oddfellows' district meeting at the Oddfellows' Hall, and seemed his usually cheery self. After having spoken, he had just resumed his seat when he completely collapsed. He was carried out of the room, and conveyed to his home in York-road in a motor-car. He was immediately put to bed and Dr. Kennedy was called.

The latest news last night was that he was quite comfortable.
