  Headstone: In Loving Memory of / Mary Jane / the beloved wife of / Walter Philip Hancock / who fell asleep in Jesus / September 7th 1899 / aged 30 years. / "Gone to be with Christ which is far better." / "How much we loved her no tongue can tell, / How much we loved her and how well, / Christ loved her too and thought it best / to take her home with Him to rest." / Also Emily Caroline / the dearly beloved wife of / Frederick Charles Seward / and daughter of the above / who departed this life / May 3rd. 1920 / aged 23 years. / "Whosoever believeth in Him shall not / perish but have Everlasting Life." // Footstone: M.J.H. / 1899 / E.C.S. /1920 //
  Headstone tilted & deeply weathered in places, threatening MI.
    Mary Jane, d. of John & Ellen New & sister of Edmund New ChNW35, of Old Newtown Rd. She was the first Walter Philip Hancock's 3rd wife, chemical porter & watch repairer. Her daughter Emily Caroline, wife of Frederick Charles Seward, wood turner, lived at 4 Derby Cottages, King's Rd. Both deaths were just after childbirth & husbands remarried soon after.
