SUDDEN DEATH – A sad case of sudden death took place yesterday afternoon in Bartholomew-street. Charlotte Ball, an old woman, wife to a blind basket maker, living at 104, Bartholomew-street, slipped up on Saturday whilst fetching some water from Union-court, and since then had complained of pains in her head. Yesterday afternoon shortly before five o’clock, her husband advised her to lay down, and she went upstairs with that idea. Scarcely had she reached the bedroom before she called out to her husband to lift her on to the bed. He went up and found that she was dying. Indeed she practically died instantly in his arms. Mr. Richard Hickman was sent for, but medical assistance was then of no avail. P.C. Gibbs, coroner’s officer, reported the death to the Borough Coroner who will hold an inquest this (Thursday) evening. |
