    Mrs. P. transcribed the surname as Durbridge but on checking census records surname is definitely Durbidge. John Durbidge is the father of Fanny Clinch (LS4).

JOHN DURBRIDGE

CROOKHAM

 

AN OLD INHABITANT.

- Mr. John Durbridge, has been amongst those carried off recently, passing away at the age of 78. The deceased has for many years carried on the business of rake and stick manufacturer, succeeding his father more than fifty years ago. The business will still be continued in the family by the widow and sons.

The funeral took place on Friday, the 15th inst., at Newbury Cemetery, the body being taken on its way to Stroud Green Chapel, where a memorial service was conducted by the Rev D. Harding, and at the grave the Rev. W. J. T Seruby (?) officiatedwhere also the hymn "Welcome Home" was sung.

Deceased had been for a long period identified with the Primitive Methodists.
