OSTLER WILL BE SADLY MISSED
All who “put up” at the Queen's, or have any business in the hotel yard, will have missed for some months past the familiar figure of Edward, the ostler; and many have heard with deep regret of his death after a long and painful illness.

Edward – few people ever knew his surname was Marchment – had been at the Queen's ever since its transformation from the “Tree Tuns”, and was previously at the White Hart with Mr. Hamlen.

He was a very civil and obliging man, and his readiness to please all with whom he came into contact made him a host of friends.

Evidence of this was afforded during his illness whom Mr Hamlen collected a goodly sum amongst frequenters of the yard, which helped to afford Edward ease and comfort during his illness. He leaves a widow and young family.

Continues with an appreciation of another ostler at the Queens, named Harris.

This obituary entry is awaiting verification.
